Theo metal ornament

Theo is a Holstein calf who came from the dairy industry, a system where gentle beings like him are reduced to numbers and outcomes. As a male Holstein, he was considered “useless” the moment he was born. He couldn’t produce milk, and he wasn’t the breed desired for beef.

In that world, calves like Theo are disposable.

His fate was already written:

sold off, sent to slaughter, or used for veal.

A short life. A life without his mother. A life without a chance.

But Theo’s story didn’t end there.

He was rescued and brought to the sanctuary, where he finally got to live as the individual he is  sensitive, social, curious, and full of personality. Theo is still growing, still learning, still becoming who he was always meant to be. He’s a young boy with his whole life ahead of him.

At Skylands, Theo has grown up surrounded by his friends,the same friends he’s had from the beginning. He came of age alongside Vince, who was born here, and he spends his days with his close companions: Mindy, Lenore, Charlie, and Ewan. They are his family, his herd, his safe world.

This ornament honors Theo’s journey from discarded to cherished.

When you place Theo on your Christmas tree, he becomes a reminder of all the calves who never get this chance  and a symbol of your commitment to protect the vulnerable.
